A HELPFUL Guide for Safely and Efficiently Operating Your Heating and/or Cooling System

1. Filtration:

A dirty or clogged filter can cause your system to stop working. Be sure to replace/clean your filter as follows:

  • 1” disposable filter – Replace every 2-3 months
  • 4” High Efficiency Media Filter – Replace every 6-9 months
  • Electronic Air Cleaner – Clean cells AND pre-filters if applicable (see manual for details) every 3-6 months

High quality replacement filters can be purchased through Advanced Air Systems, Inc. Please call (360) 693-1757 so that we can have your filters waiting for you when you arrive!

2. Thermostat Settings:

Keeping your thermostat set within the recommended levels can help to avoid excessive energy use, unnecessary wear & tear and untimely equipment failures!

Recommended levels –

  • Heat settings: 68° - 72°
  • Cooling settings: 70° - 76°

Because of our climate, setting your air conditioning too low can cause equipment failure. If you believe your air conditioner has stopped working, turn it off, read through #4 “Preparing for a Service Call” and then call Advanced Air Systems at (360) 693-1757.

3. Annual Maintenance:

Consistent annual check-ups by a licensed technician are also an important part of maintaining your equipment and are recommended by the equipment manufacturer. If performed on a regular annual schedule, maintenance can extend the life of your equipment and improve it's reliability and efficiency. Our Comfort Assurance Program provides automatic annual maintenance visits plus discounts and other valuable benefits. For more information, click here.

Generally, maintenance visits are performed in the spring or fall as follows:

  • Gas Furnace with Air Conditioning in the Spring
  • Heat Pump with Gas or Electric Furnace in the Fall

However, you are welcome to call Advanced Air Systems anytime during the year to schedule a visit at (360) 693-1757.

4. Preparing for a Service Call:

Before calling for a service technician there are a few steps for resetting the system that you can try:

  1. Before turning the system off, refer to the thermostat manual and verify that the settings are correct and that the thermostat is indicating that the heat or cooling is on
  2. Turn the system off at the thermostat for 10 minutes to an hour Remove and clean or replace the filter
  3. Turn the heat or cooling back on and check the airflow from the registers in your home

If it still does not work properly:

  1. Please do not take the unit apart. This will void all warranties and cost more to repair
  2. Clear the area around the furnace for safe access
  3. Call Advanced Air Systems at (360) 693-1757!

5. Warranty and After-hours Service Calls:
